Travel at the Speed of dog is an 82 page guide to Dog Driving that introduces the sport and directs the newbie or anyone considering getting into the sport on how to assess their dog for driving. The book covers the various styles and models of sulkies, harnesses, as well as other tack and accessories. The second half of the book is a comprehensive step-by-step training manual for both dual shaft sulkies as well as the dorsal hitch.  

Seventeen levels of instructions cover puppy training up to an adult dogs and everything in between.  Timid dogs, confident dogs, stubborn and even lazy dogs are discussed. The basics for single dog training down to team and group driving are presented. Tips on conditioning and motivation provide the final key to success.

The author, Darlette Ratschan, has been training and driving dogs for 7 years. Darlette also designs and makes harnesses for the R.J. Walsh single shaft sulky and over the years  has owned and driven many kinds of carts/sulkies with both two shafts as well as the single , dorsal hitch shaft. Darlette has trained several breeds of dogs as well as helped others in getting started. She currently drives a team of four Portuguese Water Dogs in her home town of Valencia, CA.
